Approach

Documentary wedding photographer: One who captures the world as it exists, without intervening in what unfolds.

Documentary Wedding photography

For me, it’s always been about documentary photography. What drew me to photography all those years ago was its realness and the way that it can truly take you back to a moment in time. It’s this realness which makes each wedding entirely different and unique and I love the challenge of turning up to every wedding like it’s a blank slate – a new story to tell.

Much like the definition, being a documentary style wedding photographer is all about capturing wedding moments as they unfold, in an organic way. Far from staged or uncomfortable, the approach is centred around observing and documenting natural emotions and narratives of the day.

Throughout the wedding day, I’ll be there gathering and compiling moments. Powerful stories in their own rights, each moment will come together to create the bigger story of your wedding day, providing you with memories which really mean something.

01.

What does my pricing include?

My pricing is for full day wedding photography coverage. This means that I’ll be there from morning preparations (don’t worry, you’ll have some time to get yourself up and ready first!), all the way through to the evening celebrations. I’ll generally stay until just after the first dance, however it’s not a hard and fast rule – I’ll always stay a bit longer if there’s action. You’ve also got the option to add in a second photographer for an extra cost – I’ve outlined more about deciding on whether to add in a second photographer here.

After the wedding, you’ll get a fast preview gallery of approx. 35 highlight images within a week. You’ll then receive a full online gallery of 600+ digital downloads following this, within two months of the wedding day. You can also choose to include albums for an extra charge – get in touch for if you’d like to see the brochure.

Is wedding photography a good idea for people who don’t love being in front of the camera?

Absolutely. As a documentary wedding photographer, my approach is all staying in the periphery of moments, capturing the day as it unfolds rather than directing it. This way, you’ll be able to just enjoy the day with your friends and family, without having to worry about posed or uncomfortable moments. What’s the Booking Process?

As someone who doesn’t appreciate scrolling through pages and pages of contracts and paperwork, I’ve made sure that the booking process is super straight forwards.

Firstly, pop me over a message on my contact form and I’ll see if your wedding dates is available. Then, I’ll invite you onto a quick 20 minute zoom/phone call, where I can explain a bit more about my approach and what I offer, as well as hearing about your wedding plans and any questions you might have. After this, I’ll send over my terms and conditions (they’re short and concise, I promise!) and a booking form. Once you’ve sent them back with the deposit, I’ll be happy to confirm your booking! If this all sounds good, I’d love to hear from you.
